Worship in the Woods is the summer vespers series of the Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center. Join us Sundays at 7 PM from July 12 through August 9 in our beautiful, outdoor, wooded amphitheater!

Our service on July 19 will feature Brigitte Zawadi as speaker, and those present will be invited, as they are able, to join in singing from the Harmonia Sacra.

Brigitte Zawadi is a recent graduate of Bethany Theological Seminary, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in peace studies. As a student, Brigitte enjoyed discovering different approaches to learning that encourage critical thinking and emphasize a wide range of perspectives. She has already begun applying those techniques to her own teaching, both as a Swahili language teacher at Bethany and when she taught a course in African Literature at her undergraduate alma mater, African International University, a private Christian institution in Kenya. 

Brigitte planned to teach school before she attended Bethany Theological Seminary, and she plans to continue using her teaching skills now that she has graduated. She also hopes to earn a doctorate in her career as an educator and to continue building on the skills and habits of mind that she has developed at Bethany.

Representatives from the Harmonia Sacra Society will be leading community singing from the Shenandoah Valley-born Harmonia Sacra songbook. Those present will be invited, as they are able, to join in singing together in our wooded amphitheatre.

Please note: John Jantzi will not be joining us as scheduled.

Please bring your own lawn chair for seating. An offering will be taken to support the ongoing mission of the Heritage Center. Parking is available in the field at the top of our hill. Golf cart assistance is available for those who wish it; if handicap parking is needed at the bottom of the amphitheater, please request it when you arrive.

In case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Pavilion.
