We have a Field Trip Program for fifth Graders!

In addition to our long-running field trip program for kindergarten through second grade students, we’ve developed an additional field trip program for fifth graders!

This new program has been developed specifically for Rockingham County Public Schools, as it is intended to reinforce and enhance the Rockingham County fifth grade social studies curriculum (although it is open to other local schools). Like our existing program for younger students, this new program is hands-on and engaging! It features activities that will deepen students’ understanding of the Brethren and Mennonite experience during the Civil War, and invite them to step back in time and imagine what it would have been like to live in the Shenandoah Valley in the mid-1800s.

Due to major work being done on our property, we have made the decision to cancel our fifth-grade field trips for Spring 2026. We expect to provide this program again in Spring 2027, during March and April. Ordinarily, on each day of the field trip, they will run from 9:30am to 1:30pm each day.

The rate for our field trips is $8 per student and chaperone, with no fee for teachers, aides, or bus drivers.

If you are interested in scheduling a field trip, please fill in the form below or call/email our 5th Grade Scheduling Coordinator, Mindy Garber, at 540-820-1922 / fifthgrade@brethrenmennoniteheritage.org.
