We’ve Launched a New Field Trip Program for fifth Graders!

In addition our our current field trip program for kindergarten through second grade students, we’ve starting an additional field trip program for fifth graders!

This new program has been developed specifically for Rockingham County Public Schools, as it is intended to reinforce and enhance the Rockingham County fifth grade social studies curriculum (although we may open it to other local schools in the future). Like our existing program for younger students, this new program is hands-on and engaging! It features activities that will deepen students’ understanding of the Brethren and Mennonite experience during the Civil War, and invite them to step back in time and imagine what it would have been like to live in the Shenandoah Valley in the mid-1800s.

The schedule has not yet been set for Spring 2026. Please check back with us in August for more information.

We will offer these field trips on Tuesdays from March 11 through April 29, 2025 (skipping April 1 for spring break), and they will run from 9:30am to 1:30pm each day.

The rate for our field trips is $8 per student and chaperone, with no fee for teachers, aides, or bus drivers.

If you are interested in scheduling a field trip, please fill in the form below or call/email our 5th Grade Scheduling Coordinator, Susan Anderson, at 540-435-1664 / fifthgrade@brethrenmennoniteheritage.org.
