Worship in the Woods is the summer vespers series of the Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center, held Sunday evenings in the natural amphitheater on the Heritage Center campus. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 season is held online, with many of the participants filmed in the amphitheater setting.
This week we are joined by Kevin Clark, who makes his home in the Hopkins Gap area of Western Rockingham County, VA with his wife Susan, both originally from Altoona, PA. They have four adult children and six grandchildren. He holds a B.A. in Theology and Biblical Studies from Eastern Mennonite University, a MA in Church Leadership from Eastern Mennonite Seminary, with concentrations in Pastoral Counseling and Christian Spiritual Formation, and a D.Min. in Spiritual Direction through Graduate Theological Foundation, South Bend, IN. Kevin is a pastor at heart, initially ordained by the non-denominational affiliation of Calvary Chapel in 1981, he was ordained by the Virginia Mennonite Conference in 1996. He has nearly 39 years pastoral experience, serving within several Christian denominations. Kevin finds life giving ministry in his role as Seminary Campus Pastor and Associate Professor of Spiritual Formation, and in ministry as a spiritual director and retreat leader.
Music this week comes from Eric Olson Getty, a native of Vermont and a graduate of Williams College (2002) and Duke Divinity School (2008). His wife, Dayna, works at MennoMedia, and they have two children: Ethan, who was born and died in August of 2009; and Noah, who was born in February of 2011. Eric works at Our Community Place, a nonprofit dedicated to serving and building community among marginalized and unhoused people in Harrisonburg. In addition to playing music, Eric enjoys trail running and cycling.
This week's worship leader is retired Church of the Brethren minister and BMHC board member Paul Roth.
