Worship in the Woods is the summer vespers series of the Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center. Join us Sundays at 7 PM from June 25 through August 6 in our beautiful, outdoor, wooded amphitheater!
Our service on June 25 will feature Ben Risser as speaker, with Abigail Parker providing special music.
Ben and Kathy Risser are in their retirement years and thoroughly enjoy being unemployed. Ben retired as pastor at Ridgeway Mennonite Church in 2019 and Kathy retired after 30 years as an RN at Sentara RMH in 2021. While not having scheduled events to order their week, their time is filled with grandparenting, puttering around their house in Broadway and other activities like reading, biking, camping, walking and did we say puttering? Ben also volunteers one day a week as a chaplain at Sentara RMH and Kathy gives a day a week using her nursing skills at Blue Ridge Free Clinic. They are members of Zion Mennonite Church in Broadway.
Please bring your own lawn chair for seating. An offering will be taken to support the ongoing mission of the Heritage Center. Parking is available in the field at the top of our hill. Golf cart assistance is available for those who wish it; if handicap parking is needed at the bottom of the amphitheater, please request it when you arrive.
In case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Log House and parking signs will be relocated to that area.
