Worship in the Woods is the summer vespers series of the Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center. Join us Sundays at 7 PM from June 22 through August 10 in our beautiful, outdoor, wooded amphitheater!
Our service on August 3 will feature Beth Jarrett as speaker, with Vocal Chords providing special music.
Beth Jarrett is currently serving as the pastor of Staunton Church of the Brethren, she has also served as pastor at First Church of the Brethren, Associate Pastor of Neffsville Mennonite Church (Lancaster, PA). She also worked at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren (Weyers Cave) as a Youth Pastor and Harrisonburg Mennonite Church as Choir Director. Beth holds a Master of Divinity from Eastern Mennonite Seminary, a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and is certified in Spiritual Guidance for the Congregation from the Kairos School of Spiritual Formation, Lancaster Pa. Beth and her husband, Harry, served as Missionaries with the Virginia Mennonite Board of Missions in Sicily for ten years. Harry and Beth learned to speak fluent Italian, raised their three children, ate a lot of wonderful food and made deep and lasting friendships. Beth has sensed a call from God to ministry since she was a small child. She believes that her love for Jesus Christ and the church is best lived out in the context of a faith community. She enjoys working with others in a collaborative way, inviting them to join her in the work of ministry in the local congregation and the community. Harry and Beth live on their family’s farm in Harrisonburg, Virginia where they enjoy biking, fishing, kayaking and their dogs Elsa and Jake. Beth enjoys cooking Italian food and a good book. They have three children and two grandchildren.
Please bring your own lawn chair for seating. An offering will be taken to support the ongoing mission of the Heritage Center. Parking is available in the field at the top of our hill. Golf cart assistance is available for those who wish it; if handicap parking is needed at the bottom of the amphitheater, please request it when you arrive.
In case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Log House and parking signs will be relocated to that area.
