This week Worship in the Woods features meditation from Joanna Friesen.

Joanna Friesen is an embodiment of the shared Brethren and Mennonite experience. Raised with a Mennonite background, she currently works as an intern at First Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg. Joanna is originally from Sellersville, PA, and she has been living in Harrisonburg with her husband, Tim for the past two years. She moved here to earn her Master of Divinity from Eastern Mennonite Seminary, and she has 2 years left of study. Joanna graduated from Houghton College in 2017. Currently, she is an assistant coach at Eastern Mennonite University for distance runners and triathletes. Says Joanna, “I love living in the Shenandoah Valley!”

Cathy Cupp is a Shenandoah Valley native who often serves as worship leader at Ridgeway Mennonite Church. She will be leading us in congregational singing, with accompaniment on an early 1900s portable suitcase organ by Becky Hunter.

Worship in the Woods is the summer vespers series of the Brethren & Mennonite Heritage Center in Harrisonburg, VA. Join us Sundays at 7 PM from June 23 - Aug. 11 in the beautiful, outdoor, natural amphitheater.
